The Malahat SkyWalk: Walk way to the Sky

Just 35 minutes north of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, you will find a spectacular bird's eye view of forested mountains as they drop to the Pacific Ocean. Opening on July 15th, 2021, The Malahat Skywalk is one of Vancouver Island's greatest attractions on Vancouver Island.

Sitting on the traditional lands of the  Malahat Nation, The Malahat SkyWalk offers a completely unobstructed 360-degree views of the Saanich Inlet. The Skywalk is an impressive 250 meters (820 feet) above sea level. It has about 600 meters (1,969 feet) of a gentle spiral walkway that takes you to the ultimate viewing platform.

Adult: $36.95 Seniors: $32.95 Child/Youth: $22.95 Children up to 5y/o: Free Family Ticket: $95.00

Visit after 4pm and save 25%. 

Need a lift? The Malahat SkyWalk offers a shuttle service directly from downtown Victoria to the SkyWalk.  Adults $80, seniors $77,  youth $60 and 5 and under free. Includes entry into the SkyWalk, 

Driving from downtown Victoria

Head north on Douglas St/TransCanada Highway 1N

Continue to travel north through Victoria toward McKenzie Ave

Continue past McKenzie Ave exit for approx. 27 km

Destination exit will be on your right (approx. 4 km past Shawnigan Lake Rd)


Tree Walk at the Malahat SkyWalk

Experience

From the moment you arrive at the Welcome Center, you will feel how welcome you are. From the smiling faces to the wheel chair access, the Malahat SkyWalk offers an adventure that is friendly and inclusive to all abilities. 


Visitors start by taking a leisurely and constant low gradient tree walk which is easy for strollers and wheelchairs to navigate. 

The tree walk is a beautiful boardwalk elevated about 20 meters (66 feet) from the forest floor. It takes you alongside giant Douglas Fir and fragrant Arbutus trees.


Visitors with a deeper appreciation to nature, can learn more about the animals, trees, birds and the coastal region by reading the many informative signs along the way. 


Always keep your eyes open for driftwood art pieces containing cougars, herons, bald eagles, informative signs and spectacular views of the  coastal Salish Sea.


And when you're done taking in all the spectacular vistas, you can glide down their epic 20-meter (66-foot) slide! To get to the Spiral Tower

From the base looking up

Arriving at the base and looking 10 stories up the spiral tower can be a bit intimidating. Due to its low gradient, the  full experience of the Malahat SkyWalk can be experienced by all, even those with mobility issues. 


This relaxing journey up offers unique and natural views, of the forest, wild animals and birds accomplanied by  the smell of Arbutus trees. 


Be sure to have your camera ready at all times. You never know what you might see.

Soak up the natural beauty of nature

250 meters above sea level, arriving at the top provides one of the most spectacular views that you will find on Vancouver Island. With seascape views you will find yourself Immersed in prestine nature, high above the Salish Sea. Gaze at views of Cowichan Valley, the beautiful Salt Spring Island, Brentwood Bay, Mount Baker and the Salish Sea.

 

At the top, take a walk on the wild side by trying out the adventure net. Suspended in the centre of the tower is an 84 sq meter adventure net. Scary for some, this feature offers a safe and unique way to view the SkyWalk from the top.


Of course you can walk down the way you came. But for more adventure and fun, come down the 20 meter spiral slide. Had fun coming down the slide? Take as many turns as you like. 

Other Notables

Once at the bottom, visitors have two ways to head back to the entrance. 


For those with mobility issues, consder coming back via the low gradient tree walk. The second option is to opt in for a change of scenery by taking a 15-20 hike through the nature trail. This is a very easy hike, however may not be suiteable for some with mobility issues. 


From thirst to hunger, the Malahat SkyWalk has the goods for refueling up before or after your adventure. From icecream and hand made pizza to a canteen bar & cafe, there are many tasty offerings to be had. 


Kids need to burn a little more energy off? Visit the gathering place and let the kids play in the play area. 


Of course the best way to finish off any SkyWalk adventure is to check out the gift shop. Take home a piece of Vancouver Island.

TOWER TOP YOGA

SUNDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS, JUNE 28TH - SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2023

Start your day with gentle morning yoga at the top of the SkyWalk Tower. Soak up magnificent island views and breathe in fresh ocean air while moving through a morning practice.

During this class you will explore the opening poses of the Ashtanga Primary Series. This includes Sun Salutations and postures linked to Vinyasa (flowing movement) with a focus on breath and taxing point (dristhi). Each pose has its roots in Hatha Yoga and is ideal for those looking to develop clarity and strength, both mentally and physically. Modifications are offered in each pose.
